Growing up

We journey through life going from one point to another. As small children our goal is to reach that next point with as much speed as possible. Rushing to grow older, rushing to grow and not be considered a child. We finally reach a certain point where it is the perfect time, and we would like it to stay that time, but we have been rushing for so long that time just flys by. We lose site of the good stuff around us. We find it hard to stay a certain age. We've spent so much time trying to grow up, we forgot to enjoy all that good stuff that happens.

We see adulthood looming ahead. We're pretty sure we'll do ok, but there's so much more growing to do. Why can't we just stay children? High school was great, why do we have to leave? Life has been enjoyable, for the most part. Suddenly we will be thrust into the world with the title of adult, when we are still with the novice mind of a child. Scary thoughts, but thoughts we have been preparing for since we were very young. "When I grow up..." we knew exactly the dream to become, even if it might change on a whim the next minute. We had time, though at the time it seemed like too much time. Now when it is finally upon us, what are we to do? We've prepared for it. We've dreamed about it. We've wished for it. What else is there to do, but to enjoy the few days we have left as being just the child. We have the knowledge that our adult lives will more than likely take up a much larger part of our whole life than our child lives had, so as the days keep slipping by, remember to cherrish them, to love them and love those around you who are helping you on this great journey.
